SEATTLE YOUTH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

S. Mark Taper Foundation Auditorium

Founded in 1942, the SEATTLE YOUTH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA is one of the premiere youth orchestras in the nation. Made up of the finest young classical musicians in the region, the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra delivers performances of professional caliber with the unrivaled energy and passion of youthful artistry. Repertoire includes a variety of styles from early music to world premieres. The orchestra performs three regular season concerts in Benaroya Hall.

Stravinsky: Violin Concerto in D (Sophia Stoyanovich, violin soloist)
Saint-Saëns: Symphony No. 3 in C Minor, Op. 78

January 13 program:
Barber: Overture from The School for Scandal
Wagner: Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde
Wagner: Wesendonk Lieder
Shostakovich: Symphony No. 5 in D Minor, Op. 47

April 28 program:

May 19 program:
Brahms: Tragic Overture

Hear the talented musicians of the Seattle Symphony in the intimate Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall as they join together to present chamber works by Brahms, Medtner and more.

Flamenco
Join Fundación Conservatorio Flamenco Casa Patas for some fiery footwork and live flamenco music. KAREN LUGO is one of the youngest dancers and flamenco choreographers ever to perform with Casa Patas. Her volcanic energy is a force to behold. This three-day engagement is presented in collaboration with Seattle’s Honorary Consulate of Spain.
