SRJO Jazz4Kids Concert

Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall

Michael Brockman and Clarence Acox, Artistic Directors

presented courtesy of the Glaser Foundation

Jazz4Kids concerts are free events providing children and youth a rare opportunity to hear jazz performed live in an excellent concert hall. Audiences show great enthusiasm for the performances, and attendance includes families with young children, teenage students and friends, large groups from community organizations, churches and clubs serving young people and families, and school groups. Our relatively small concert venue (approximately 500 seats) affords audience members close interaction with the SRJO musicians.

Audience surveys at Jazz4Kids concerts show many are attending a jazz concert for the first time. Audiences have been drawn from the entire Puget Sound region, including Pierce, Snohomish, Island and Kitsap Counties, and both East and West sides of King County.

The need for Jazz4Kids is very clear: to encourage a love for jazz in young people so that America's special music is held up as the highest artistic example of the strength of American diversity and creativity.
