ABOUT THE AUTHORS
MARK BITTMAN is a New York Times food writer and author (How to Cook Everything and Food Matters) who espouses healthy, low-cost meals and looking "at the links among eating too much meat, obesity, [and] global warming...." Mark Bittman's September 19 talk is entitled, "The Future of Food," about the intersection of food, politics, the environment, and personal health. Chip Giller, president and founder of Grist, will moderate the Q&A following Mr. Bittman's talk.
MIRANDA JULY is a filmmaker (The Future, Me and You and Everyone We Know), artist (Eleven Heavy Things at the 2009 Venice Biennale) and writer (It Chooses You). Her videos, performances and web-based projects have been presented at MOMA, the Guggenheim Museum, and in two Whitney Biennials. Her fiction has appeared in The Paris Review, Harper's, and The New Yorker.
