Born in Ekaterinburg, Russia, Natasha Bazhanov began playing violin at the age of 5.

Mae Lin

First Violin

Mae Lin joined the Seattle Symphony in 2008 as a member of the second violin section. Having grown up in Bellevue, she was very excited to return home to join her hometown symphony.

Cordula Merks

First Violin

German violinist Cordula Merks joined the first violin section of the Seattle Symphony in May of 2011.

Susan Gulkis Assadi

Viola

Principal Violist of the Seattle Symphony since the 1992-1993 season, Susan Gulkis Assadi enjoys a varied career as an orchestral player, chamber musician, soloist and teacher.

Mara Gearman

Viola

A member of the Seattle Symphony viola section, Seattle native Mara Gearman also regularly performs at the Olympic, Methow and Eastern music festivals.

Efe Baltacıgil

Cello

Principal Cello of the Seattle Symphony since fall 2011, Baltacıgil was previously Associate Principal Cello of The Philadelphia Orchestra since 2003.

Meeka Quan DiLorenzo

Cello

Before joining the Seattle Symphony in 2009, Assistant Principal Cello Meeka Quan DiLorenzo held the title of Associate Principal Cello of the Utah Symphony for five seasons.

Roberta Hansen Downey

Cello

Roberta Hansen Downey grew up in Seattle and Tacoma. She earned her Bachelor of Music at the University of Southern California, studying cello with Gabor Rejto, and continued her cello studies with Cordelia Wikarski-Miedel.

Jean-Yves Thibaudet

Piano

Artist in residence, pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet is considered one of the best pianists in the world, and has the rare ability to combine poetic musical sensibilities with dazzling technical prowess.
