Piano Competition Recital Round

Seven contestants will perform a piece by Ravel from the piano solo repertoire; Premonitions, a Seattle Symphony commission of a jazz-inspired piece by Portland-based composer and YCA alumnus Kenji Bunch composed specifically  for the competition; and one additional work of the contestant’s choosing. Six of the eight will be advanced to compete in the Semi-Final round.

This is a free event but you must RSVP to attend.

Slot one:
9:30–12:00pm – Pianists 1–3

Slot two:
1:00–3:35pm – Pianists 4–7

Ludovic Morlot


French conductor Ludovic Morlot is in his fifth season as Music Director of the Seattle Symphony. There have been many highlights during his first four seasons in this position, including an exhilarating performance at Carnegie Hall in May 2014, as reported in The New York Times: "The performance Mr. Morlot coaxed from his players was rich with shimmering colours and tremulous energy.”
