A rare, semi-staged performance of Ravel’s one-act opera. With charming text by the famed French novelist Colette and Ravel’s masterpiece score, L’enfant et les sortilèges (“The Child and the Spells”) is a rich fantasy of fairy tale characters, plants and little animals brought to life. Ravel is the original sampler, combining elements of ragtime, jazz, 18th century dance and lushness. A musical highpoint of the season not to be missed.

20-year-old Canadian pianist Jan Lisiecki has signed an exclusive recording agreement with Deutsche Grammophon at the age of 15. His debut recording on the prestigious label featured Mozart’s Piano Concertos K. 466 & 467 with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under Christian Zacharias.

Holder of a master’s degree in musicology from the Sorbonne, a Prix degree from the CNSM in Paris and many awards from international competitions, Delphine Haidan was trained at the Paris Opera’s Ecole de Chant.
Critically acclaimed mezzo-soprano Michèle Losier has distinguished herself on the most prestigious stages of the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, the Vienna State Opera, and the Opéra-Comique in Paris. She was recently hailed for her portrayal of Medea at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées as having a “great presence” and “brassy voice”.
Mezzo-soprano Allyson McHardy’s voice has been described as radiant, dusky, incandescent, and sumptuous; her presence on stages in Canada, the United States and France have drawn comments such as noble, spellbinding, charming and seductive.
Jean-Paul Fouchecourt is universally acknowledged as one of the foremost interpreters of the French baroque repertoire. His performances and over one hundred recordings including works by Rameau, Lully and Campra have received huge acclaim. He has also mastered repertoire from Berlioz to Offenbach, Ravel, Britten and Verdi.
Alexandre Duhamel showed an early interest in classical music, singing and theatre. As a teenager, he was part of a troupe in which he played several roles over the period of seven years. Later, he studied journalism at La Sorbonne Université, while continuing his vocal studies with Yves Sotin and later, Malcolm Walker at Paris National Conservatoire. Throughout his studies, he also benefited from the teachings of Malcolm King and Tom Krause. Currently, he is working under the guidance of Susan McCulloch and Alain Fondary.
A native of Québec, Alexandre Sylvestre studied at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal where he successfully obtained the “Premier Prix avec Grande Distinction.”
