March 7, 8 & 9, 2017
What is Link Up?
In Link Up, students in grades 3–5 are invited to join the Symphony in an interactive and engaging program. Students learn to sing and play orchestral repertoire through the hands-on Link Up curriculum, then perform along with the Seattle Symphony from their seats in a highly participatory concert at Benaroya Hall.
The Orchestra Sings
During the 2016–2017 season, Link Up will feature The Orchestra Sings, exploring melody as one of the universal elements of music. Students discover how melodies are made and how composers and orchestras use melodies to sing. Exploring a range of orchestral repertoire, students will sing, play the recorder and/or violin, compose and perform in a culminating concert at Benaroya Hall in March 2017.
Repertoire highlights include: Aaron Copland’s “Hoedown” from Rodeo, Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” and Stravinsky’s “Finale” from Firebird Suite.
