Family Activities
The following activities are included with Soundbridge membership or daily admission for groups of up to 5 children. Groups with 6 or more children should register in advance. Call 206.336.6600 or email soundbridge@soundbridge.org.

Musical Storytelling
Ages 2 to 5
This 30-minute class is a unique opportunity for children to connect music to some of their favorite stories. In each class, we read a story and play music that relates to the book. Children will sing songs and play musical games, and frequently see and play symphonic instruments. Browse the calendar for story of the day!
Instrument Exploration
Ages 4 and up
Let your child explore different instrument types — and then play their own real symphonic instruments!
Science of Sound
Ages 6 and up
Understanding the relationship of music with the sciences: physics, biology, and psychology. Explore the idea of sound waves and vibrations, and learn about acoustics. We often include an instrument exploration to help demonstrate the concepts listed above. Then see/hear acoustics in action with a tour of Benaroya Hall! (Subject to availability of the Hall.)
Songwriting Workshops
Ages 5 and up
These classes, led by singer/songwriter David Paul Mesler, will encourage creative thinking and uncover new musical talents as kids work together to write a unique song. Class participants will learn basic concepts of music composition and gain positive exposure to the creative musical process.
Musical Birthday Parties at Soundbridge
Host your birthday at Soundbridge! Birthday Party includes: songs, musical games, Treasure Hunt Expedition, entrance to Soundbridge for all of your guests, exclusive use of the workshop space, a free Soundbridge t-shirt for the birthday child, a birthday certificate and lots of fun!
Musical Birthday Party Costs (for up to 3 hours during regular business hours)
- $150 with a Soundbridge family membership
- $250 without a membership
- After-hours fee may apply to parties scheduled beyond our regular business hours.

Discover Music Preview Classes
- Designed for children 5 to 12 years of age.
- Five Sunday sessions, which take place on the Sunday prior to each Gilman Family Discover Music Family Concert
- Hands-on sessions specifically designed to enhance your Discover Music Family Concert experience
- Classes include musical fun and games based on concert themes, as well as crafts projects
Fee: Free admission with Gilman Family Discover Music concert ticket or Soundbridge membership, or Soundbridge daily admission. A materials fee of $5 per child will be applied.

Soundbridge Rental
Soundbridge is perfect for your next event! Host a recital, meeting, or lecture, sponsor a family music hour, and more! Workshop space features a well-tuned grand piano, stage area, seating for a maximum of 60 people, and a reception table. Guests also receive free admission to Soundbridge on the day of the event!
