Soundbridge School/Organization Visits
Listen, think and link Soundbridge experiences with performance, practice, informal and formal music education, as well as humanities and science curriculum. All Soundbridge exhibits and programs align with the Washington State Essential Learning Requirements for Arts Education.
Experience the Science of Sound in Soundbridge!
Great for grades 2 through 5
Understand music’s relationship to math, physics, biology and psychology. Explore the idea of sound waves and vibrations; watch sound waves on an oscilloscope; learn about acoustics, transmission, reflections, absorption and sound isolation; play the walls of the S. Mark Taper Foundation Auditorium (when available) as it becomes a huge “talking drum” and more. The program satisfies EALRs 1.1, 2.3, 4.2
Program fee: First class visit — up to 25 students and 5 adults ($2 per additional person) — complimentary with an annual Soundbridge school membership ($60); subsequent visits are $60 each with a $2 per person charge over 25 students and 5 adults.

Musical Storytelling
This 30-minute class is a unique opportunity for children to connect music to some of their favorite stories. In each class, we read a story and play music that relates to the book. Children sing songs and play musical games, and frequently see and play symphonic instruments. Ideal for children ages 2 to 5.
Instrument Exploration
This class is tailored specifically to your class and your students’ interests. Children are given the opportunity to learn about and play real symphonic instruments. Ideal for children ages 4 and older.
Science of Sound
Understand the relationship of music to the sciences: physics, biology and psychology. Explore the idea of sound waves and vibrations. Learn about acoustics, transmission, reflections, absorption and sound isolation. We tailor the classes based on your students' needs and interests. We often include an instrument exploration to help demonstrate the concepts listed above. Ideal for children ages 6 and older.
Songwriting Workshops
Led by singer/songwriter David Paul Mesler, these workshops encourage creative thinking and uncover new musical talents as students work together to write a unique song. Students will learn basic concepts of music composition and gain positive exposure to the creative musical process. Ideal for children ages 5 and older.
Create-Your-Own Musical Curriculum Extension!
Let us customize a class specifically for your students. Class may include concepts listed above and tailored to your students’ interests and development levels.

- $60. Valid for 13 months.

- Free for the first class/workshop (up to 25 students/5 chaperones) with active Soundbridge School Membership
- Additional people and/or presentations are $2/person
- Scheduled on Tuesdays and Wednesdays

Symphony on Wheels
For Third through Fifth Grade Students
The colorful Symphony on Wheels van arrives at your school with education staff, volunteers and orchestral instruments. This program is intended to motivate third through fifth grade students to participate in their school's instrumental music program.
Experience Symphony on Wheels in your classroom! Science curriculum extensions led by Seattle Symphony Science Educator (EALRs 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 2.2, 4.4, 4.5).

Seattle Symphony offers a variety of concerts and programs that help teachers and students to build a strong arts vocabulary, respond to the arts, understand the relationship of music to science and the humanities, and learn more about the world of work created through the arts.
