What is your earliest musical memory? banging on silverware to the music on the radio when I was 3 years old
When did you know you wanted to be a professional musician? when I was 17 years old
Who were your most important musical influences? my father Mori Simon who was a professional violinist and bassist; my teacher James Harnett, who was the principal bass here from 1957 to about 1987
What is your favorite aspect about being a musician? being able to make a living doing what I love
What is the most difficult part of your job? putting in the practice to stay at the level of my colleagues
How often and long do you practice? three hours a day
What is your most memorable moment with the SSO? my first concert with the Symphony playing with my father in 1960
