WARNER BROS. STUDIO AND SEATTLE SYMPHONY PRESENT BUGS BUNNY ON BROADWAY JULY 7
FOR RELEASE Thursday, June 02, 2005
Productions:
Seattle, WA – Guest conductor George Daughtery will lead the Seattle Symphony in five performances of Bugs Bunny on Broadway June 7 through 10 in Benaroya Hall. Performances are on Thursday, July 7 at 7:30pm, Friday, July 8 at 8:00pm, Saturday, July 9 at 2:00pm and 8:00pm, and Sunday, July 10 at 2:00pm. The last time Seattle Symphony presented this popular show, all four performances were sold out.
Bugs Bunny on Broadway stars the indefatigable Bugs Bunny with his pals Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Porky Pig and Wile E. Coyote in such classic cartoons as The Rabbit of Seville, Long Haired Hare, What's Opera, Doc?, A Corny Concerto, Baton Bunny and Rhapsody Rabbit. While the audience is treated to these musical-themed cartoons on a big screen, the Orchestra simultaneously provides the fun, yet technically challenging soundtrack.
Bugs Bunny on Broadway is a spectacular fusion of live music composed by Carl Stalling and Milt Franklyn incorporating the musical themes of Rossini, Strauss, Wagner and Tchaikovsky, and classic Warner Bros. cartoons. It premiered in a sold-out, extended run at The Gershwin Theatre on Broadway in 1990, and has since thrilled audiences around the world from the Hollywood Bowl to Moscow’s Kremlin Palace, to the Sydney Opera House, to London’s Royal Festival Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, among a host of others.
Mr. Daugherty’s career includes conducting, film and television directing, producing, and writing for both live stage productions and interactive CD-ROMS. As a conductor Mr. Daugherty has appeared frequently with The Los Angeles Philharmonic and San Francisco Symphony as well as other major American and international symphony orchestras including The Philadelphia Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the National Symphony, the Sydney Opera House Orchestra, and the Sydney Symphony. His diverse and adventurous television projects have won him a primetime Emmy Award and five other Emmy nominations, among numerous other awards and honors.
