Community Youth Chorus

Community Youth Chorus

The Community Youth Chorus launched in October 2019 as part of the Seattle Symphony’s Beethoven Festival. This unique chorus is comprised of youth ages 14–18 from across King County. The ensemble will perform with the Seattle Symphony on two Family Concerts (December 2019 and May 2020) as well as the Beethoven Festival. While rehearsing for their upcoming Seattle Symphony concerts the chorus members are also composing a new work for chorus and orchestra. They will premiere the new piece with the Seattle Symphony on the first Beethoven Festival concert in June 2020. The focus of their composition is the effects of climate change on their generation. Leading chorus activities are Megan McCormick, Chorus Director, and Angelique Poteat, Composition Director. The chorus is currently 30 members strong and still actively recruiting.
