Carson Ling-Efird, 12, studies with Kevin Krentz and Li-Tan Hsu. Carson is thrilled to be making her orchestral debut with the Seattle Symphony this year. She was a concerto finalist in the Seattle Young Artist Music Festival in 2016 and 2017. She has been a medalist in the Simon-Fiset Strings Competition and has received Best of Division in the Performing Arts Festival of the Eastside. Just after starting cello at age 4, Carson had the opportunity to play for Yo-Yo Ma, an experience that helped inspire her plans to become a professional cellist. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, breakdancing and Chinese martial arts.
