New App Gives Patrons Easy Access to Behind-the-Scenes News, Social Media Portals, User-Friendly Calendar and Ticketing Interface
The Seattle Symphony has released a brand new app for iPhone and Android mobile devices, with features that will make it easier for patrons to purchase concert tickets and explore upcoming performances on the go. The intuitive menu on the iPhone and Android applications includes an easy ticket-purchase and donation interface; an interactive, full performance calendar; details about concert promotions; easy access to Seattle Symphony’s Twitter, Facebook and YouTube accounts; and other behind-the-scenes news about the many concerts and events at Benaroya Hall each season.
Four hours prior to performances, additional event-related features become available including program notes and artist bios, special offers for those attending, and an in-app “social wall” where patrons can share their experiences with fellow patrons in the hall.
The new app expands the ticket barcode capability by allowing patrons to also use their smartphone for concert entry. The new app allows patrons to use this feature for ANY Seattle Symphony event tickets regardless of whether those tickets were purchased via phone order, the website, the app or in person. This means that patrons can skip the will call line, recover lost tickets prior to concerts without going to the Ticket Office and even share their tickets with friends via text message, making it easier to meet friends at performances. Patrons can easily retrieve ticket bar codes on their smartphones starting four hours prior to the event by logging into their Seattle Symphony accounts. A list of past and upcoming events will also appear in each user’s digital account.
For additional information on the Seattle Symphony or performances not included in the app, patrons can easily navigate to the new mobile-responsive website at www.seattlesymphony.org, which launched in February.
Patrons with previous versions of the Seattle Symphony mobile app should delete it and download the new app by searching “Seattle Symphony” or “Listen Boldly” at Apple’s App Store or Android’s App Store.
Both new apps are powered by Instant Encore, the world's leading provider of web and mobile technology to the performing arts.
The development of this app was supported by generous donations from anonymous donors.
About the Seattle Symphony
Founded in 1903, the Seattle Symphony is one of America’s leading symphony orchestras and is internationally acclaimed for its innovative programming and extensive recording history. Under the leadership of Music Director Ludovic Morlot since September 2011, the Symphony is heard live from September through July by more than 300,000 people. It performs in one of the finest modern concert halls in the world — the acoustically superb Benaroya Hall — in downtown Seattle. Its extensive education and community-engagement programs reach over 100,000 children and adults each year. The Seattle Symphony has a deep commitment to new music, commissioning many works by living composers each season, including John Luther Adams’ recent Become Ocean, which won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Music and a 2015 Grammy for Best Contemporary Classical Composition. The orchestra has made more than 140 recordings and has received 18 Grammy nominations, two Emmy Awards and numerous other accolades. In 2014 the Symphony launched its in-house recording label, Seattle Symphony Media.
