Conductor Emeritus Ludovic Morlot returns to lead a program of enchanting and colorful scores. Seattle Symphony Principal Flute Demarre McGill takes center stage for Martin’s Ballade for Flute and Orchestra and Seattle Symphony Principal Harp Valerie Muzzolini showcases the full harmonic range of the harp with Debussy’s Danses sacrée et profane. Honegger’s brooding Symphony No. 2 rounds out the program.
Following eight years as Music Director, Ludovic Morlot is now Conductor Emeritus of the Seattle Symphony. Morlot’s innovative programming encompassed not only his choice of repertoire, but theatrical productions and performances outside the traditional concert hall space.Under Morlot’s baton, 19 recordings were released under the Seattle Symphony Media label, the orchestra received ﬁve Grammy Awards, and was named Gramophone’s 2018 Orchestra of the Year.
Winner of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, Seattle Symphony Principal Flute Demarre McGill is acclaimed for his “richly saturated tone, spirited technique and expressive warmth” and has quickly become one of the most sought-after flutists of his generation.
Valerie Muzzolini is Principal Harp of the Seattle Symphony, a position she has held since the age of 23. In demand both nationally and internationally, she has performed as guest principal harp of both the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and the Nice Philharmonic, and has appeared with The Philadelphia Orchestra. As soloist, she has performed with the Seattle Symphony, Nice Philharmonic and Vancouver Symphony.
