At-Home Craft: Make Your Own Trumpet

It’s craft time! Join Sarah from the Seattle Symphony’s Education & Community Engagement team as she shows you how to make your own trumpet.

What you’ll need

  • Trumpet Template
  • 1 extra sheet of paper
  • Coloring supplies
  • Ribbons or pipe cleaners
  • Scissors
  • Tape

Steps to make your instrument

  • Print the trumpet template
  • Color your trumpet
  • Cut out the trumpet
  • Roll your second piece of paper into a long tube or funnel shape, and tape it
  • Tape the funnel to the back of your trumpet, with the smaller end of the funnel in line with the trumpet’s mouthpiece and the larger part nearest the bell
  • Decorate the bell of the trumpet with ribbons or pipe cleaners
  • Place the small end of your funnel at your lips and buzz into your trumpet to make sound!
